Fitting & Caring for Your Jewellery
Fitting Your Jewellery Safely
Your jewellery deserves gentle handling.
- If this is your first time changing a cartilage earring, we recommend visiting a professional piercer for fitting or removal.
- A piercer can check sizing, alignment and suitability for your piercing.
- Never force jewellery into place or force shut - solid gold can bend easily if pressure is applied.
- Avoid using any tools such as pliers or tweezers, which can damage the metal.
- Ensure a clean, well-lit environment where there is no risk of the jewellery falling and becoming lost.

Can solid gold jewellery tarnish?
- Solid gold is made to last a lifetime - it won’t corrode but can tarnish and is easy to restore with gentle cleaning.
- 9ct and 14ct gold are alloyed with other metals for durability.
- These alloys may react with moisture, oxygen, or chemicals, causing occasional tarnish.
- To minimise tarnish, avoid direct contact with perfumes, chlorine and harsh chemicals or beauty products.
- Skin chemistry varies - some natural body oils may affect the finish more than others.
- Use a gold polishing cloth to buff away any tarnishing and bring the gold back to its original shine.
