Piercing inspo: rook

Piercing inspo: rook

Whether you already rock a rook piercing or are planning to get pierced in the future, you've come to the right place for tips & inspiration...
What is a rook piercing?
The rook is located in the uppermost ridge of your inner ear, just above the tragus and daith.
How long is rook healing time?

You'll probably already know that cartilage piercings are a commitment and with six to twelve months healing time, the rook is no exception.

 A little patience may be required, but it's worth the wait - we promise!

 We recommend the following aftercare tips for optimised healing;

  • Gently clean piercing daily with a sterile saline solution.
  • Avoid applying harsh chemicals such as tree tree oil or alcohol as they can cause irritation which may prolong healing.
  • If you're a side sleeper, to avoid putting pressure on the healing site, sleep on the opposite side from your piercings or use a travel or donut pillow.

What kind of earrings can you wear in a rook?

Rook piercings are the perfect placement for super comfortable seamless clicker hoops, sparkly mini huggies or a sleek curved banana bar.

You will be pierced with a larger bar or hoop to allow space for swelling before sizing down for a snugger fit when healed.

At this point, most people will fit a 6mm diameter but depending on the exact placement and your ear anatomy you may need to go for larger or smaller. Your piercer will be able to advise your "healed" size - ideal for planning ahead for your post piercing jewellery glow up!

Laura's expert tip: adding one of our charms to a hoop or huggie is a really cute and versatile way to add extra movement and sparkle.
